Closing Date: Midnight Sunday 25th February, 2018. Late entries may be accepted up to Wednesday 28th midnight at an additional fee (For 3rd March)

Midnight Sunday 4th March 2018.  Late entries may be accepted up to Wednesday 7th Midnight at an additional fee (For 11th March)

British Youth Championships: As well as identifying the London Region Champions for 2018 this Competition is the qualifying event for the British Youth Championships which will take place 5th-7th May 2018 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

By entering this competition, the fencer, agrees, if he or she qualifies, to represent London Region at the BYCs. If, on the day of the LRYCs a fencer who has qualified knows they will be unable to attend the BYCs please tell the organisers  immediately. Their place may then be offered to the next ranking fencer.   This does not apply after the date of LRYCs

Fencers must be affiliated to London Region 

Entry Fee: £30 per fencer per weapon entered. Please note -refunds will only be issued after 3rd February in very exceptional circumstances. There will be no refunds after the closing date  Costs this year are higher because BF have increased the ley on each entry plus requiring Regions to provide 3 days refereeing.  £7 from each entry goes direct to BF.
Late entries: Will only be accepted at the organiser’s discretion Late entries will be subject to a fee of £40 per fencer per weapon.
Bye’s: Any fencer who reached the last 8 in 2017 BYC may claim a bye to the 2018 BYC at the same weapon regardless of age group. Any fencer claiming a bye MUST enter the LRYC but need not fence. Do you have a BYE?

Age Brackets: U12: Born 2006 or 2007                 U14: Born 2004 or 2005
U16: Born  2002 or 2003                U18: Born 2000 or 2001
Eligibility: Fencers can only enter this event if they are UK residents and  affiliated to London Region.

Entry to the BYCs is by BF Membership number so it is very important that the fencer’s record on the BF Sport80 database is correct and up to date including email address, contact numbers and regional affiliation.

BFA Membership: All fencers must be members of British Fencing and registered with London Region at the time of this event and at the time of the BYCs.
Qualification for BYC Finals: For every 4 fencers in a weapon per age group, 1 will qualify per four or part of 4 fencers competing. Where there are fewer than 4 fencers per weapon in an age group, all will qualify. Byes count as additional qualifiers and those with a bye who compete in the LYC are included in the number competing. Even if only two fencers enter a particular weapon in an age group, both fencers should attend the Competition to compete.
BYC Entry Fee
£24. This fee is passed to British Fencing for entry to the national BYC. Those qualifying at the LRYC should pay before leaving the venue

 Equipment: Equipment must conform to BFA rules. Please note U16 and U18 sabre entrants must wear 800N sabre gloves. U16 and U18 foil entrants must wear lame bib and mask wire See British Fencing website
Competition Format: In general, there will be one round of poules followed by Direct Elimination with all fencers promoted to the DE. In events with very small entries, the format may be amended. All poule fights are for 5 hits and 15 hits in the DE except for U12’s where the DE fights will be to 10 hits.

Parking and Catering: SportsDock offers secure parking and has a café serving hot and cold food and drinks.

At St Benedicts there is parking at the venue or free on street.  Hot and cold drinks and cold snacks will be available
