British Youth Championships: | As well as identifying the London Region Champions for 2020 this Competition is the qualifying event for the British Youth Championships which will take place 8th-10th May 2020 at Playfootball Birmingham .By entering this competition, the fencer, agrees, if he or she qualifies, to represent London Region at the BYCs. If a fencer who has qualified knows they will be unable to attend the BYCs please tell the organisers immediately. Their place may then be offered to the next ranking fencer. This does not apply after entries are submitted to BF |

Entry Fee: | £40 per fencer per weapon entered. Please note -refunds will only be issued after 2nd February in very exceptional circumstances. There will be no refunds after the closing date. Of the £40, £25 goes to London Region Fencing to mount the competition. The rest goes either directly to British Fencing to meet the levy they impose on entries, or towards meeting the costs we incur on BF’s behalf in sending the referees they stipulate we must, for their BYC Finals in May. |
Late entries: | Will only be accepted at the organiser’s discretion Late entries will be subject to a fee of £60 per fencer per weapon. |
Bye’s: | Any fencer who reached the last 8 in 2019 BYC may claim a bye to the 2020 BYC at the same weapon regardless of age category. To claim a bye fencers MUST enter LRYCs but need not fence. Unlike previous years BF will deal with entry to BYCs direct. London Region will not collect entry fees to BYC. Do you have a BYE? |

Eligibility: | Fencers can only enter this event if they are UK residents and affiliated to London Region. Please check that London Region is selected in your BF Membership profile
Entry to the BYCs is by BF Membership number so it is very important that the fencer’s record on the BF Sport80 database is correct and up to date including email address, contact numbers and regional affiliation. |
BFA Membership: | All fencers must be members of British Fencing and registered with London Region at the time of this event and at the time of the BYCs. |
Qualification for BYC Finals: | 1-16 entries = 8 qualify 17-19 entries = 9 qualify 20-22 entries = 10 qualify 23-25 entries = 11 qualify 26-28 entries = 12 qualify 29-31 entries = 13 qualify 32+ entries = 14 qualify Byes count as additional qualifiers and those with a bye who compete in the LRYC are included in the number competing. Even if only two fencers enter a particular weapon in an age group, both fencers should attend the Competition to compete. |

Competition Format: | In general, there will be one round of poules followed by Direct Elimination with all fencers promoted to the DE. In events with very small entries, the format may be amended. All poule fights are for 5 hits and 15 hits in the DE except for U12’s where the DE fights will be to 10 hits. |
