London Region Winter 2022 Open Novice and Intermediate Competition

Men’s and Women’s Foil, Sabre & Epee at Novice and Intermediate level

We will aim to start fencing 15 mins after check-in closes. Please try to arrive not more than 30 mins before check-in closes, we are trying to keep the venue free of non fencers as much as possible

Open to all fencers, British or foreign, who are individual members of the BFA and 19 years of age or over at 1st January 2022.

Novices: Fencers who started fencing since September 2018.

Intermediates: For the weapon entered, have never been in the top 50 of the men’s senior rankings, (foil and epee)  or the top 25 of the mens sabre or  women’s senior rankings and have not reached the last 4 of any Open Competition with more than 12 entries in that weapon.

You need Full/Compete level membership.

Entry is on line through Sport80. The entry fee is £28.  Please note refunds will not be available except in very unusual circumstances after 1st January 2022 and not in any circumstances after the closing date

Midnight Sunday 23rd January 2022. Late entry at £40 may be permitted until Wednesday 26th January.

Novice fencers can choose between Novice or Intermediate events, but not both. All competitions will start with poules, and all fencers will be promoted to the Direct Elimination stages of their event. The aim of the event is to maximise the amount of fencing so fencers of different experience and gender will be mixed in the poules. DE may be split male/female and Novice/Intermediate depending on the number of entries in each category.

The organisers reserve the right to change the formula to assist the smooth running of the competition and to improve the experience for the participants. If there are fencers who wish to enter more than one weapon we will make arrangements, if practicable, on the day.

EQUIPMENT (Minimum standard)
•350 Newton jacket and breeches
•800 Newton plastron
•Mask with a conductive bib
•800 Newton sabre glove

Covid precautions will apply

Fencers should wear face covering within the venue at all times when not fencing

Only LRF Officials and those fencers entered in the competition will be allowed into the venue. Others, including coaches, supporters, spectators etc. will not be given access

Refreshments will NOT be available. Please note that there are no shops nearby so make sure you have adequate food and drink for the day. Water is available to fill personal water bottles

Armoury services will NOT be available so please make sure your weapons are fully functioning and bring spares.
